Principles of Frontline Response to Agroterrorism and Food Systems’ Disasters (AWR-155) is the fifth course of the WIFSS Agroterrorism Preparedness Curriculum for Frontline Responders and is a preparedness-level course.  Frontline emergency response teams will be able to effectively demonstrate how to reduce or mitigate the effects of an agricultural emergency, an act of agroterrorism or other food systems disaster.

COURSE DETAILS
This is the fifth course in a curriculum of six developed by WIFSS.  This course consists of 5 contact hours, beginning at 9am and ending at approximately 2pm.  The maximum number of participants is 40.  All registrants must be a U.S. citizen.  Photo identification is required upon registration.  There is no registration fee for this class.

Audience:  This course is designed to provide frontline agricultural and public safety response teams with a comprehensive program formed around the principals of the Incident Command System (ICS) and the concept of Unified Command. This course is intended for emergency responders, supervisors and managers; law enforcement officers, fire/rescue, EMS & OES; federal, state and local public health agencies; hospital clinicians, administrators, health care providers; environmental health and public information officers; agriculture industries, including cultivation, processing, distribution, storage, transportation and veterinarians; and, elected or appointed public officials and extension advisors.

Scope:  This course includes a plan that can be used as an “all hazards” approach against a wide variety of potential problems and occurrences within the agricultural community. At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to effectively demonstrate how to reduce or mitigate the effects of an agricultural emergency, an act of agroterrorism or other food systems disaster. Individuals who complete this course will be motivated to form and maintain appropriate community frontline response teams.

Registration Information:  This course will be offered at no charge to attendees.   You may register online at http://wifss.ucdavis.edu on or before April 1st, 2008.  Seating is limited and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
